Luke Wheeler is in his fourth season as assistant coach for the Yellowjackets. His primary responsibilities include coaching the infielders and hitters.
Prior to MSUB, Wheeler spent four seasons as an assistant coach at Northeastern Junior College in Sterling, Colo., one season at National American University in Rapid City, S.D., and one season as a graduate assistant at Oklahoma Christian University. While at OC, he received his bachelor’s degree in physical education.
Wheeler’s playing experiences include two years at Seward County Community College in Kansas. The then signed and played one year at the University of Southern Mississippi . After that year, he transferred to Oklahoma Christian University and finished his senior year.
Yellowjacket head coach Chris Brown said of Wheeler, “He is a Rapid City, S.D., guy who is very familiar with this area and surrounding states. He was in integral part of the success that the Northeastern Junior College program has had. He stepped right in and made an immediate impact.”
Luke and his wife Angie, reside in Laurel, Mont., and have a daughter, Lillie, who is one.
